Playgrounds are highly charged and active social spaces. These spaces are filled with the potential for engagement and interaction and are a powerful reflection of the approach of the community to learning.<\/span>
The majority of playgrounds however are fenced off, formally predefined, and are composed of an established set of structures. The materials and their forms determine the possibilities of interaction and are static. Easy maintenance, longevity, and durability are all characteristics of the majority of playgrounds, marking an industrialization of the act of play and defining when it should start and stop.
<\/span>Play is considered to be an activity for children, and when adults play the competitive nature of the activity demands quantifiable outcomes that can be measured and compared.\u00a0<\/span>
The users of the playground return less frequently once they are old enough to go to school, and in this environment, a new set of parameters are present that will affect the process of learning.\u00a0 \u00a0
<\/span>The history of school architecture reveals that schools have always resembled the institutions that justified their purpose. Initially this was the church, and later the state.<\/span>
The schools of tomorrow may well be digital entities, mirroring the Big Tech companies that are creating systems called \u2018Personalized learning Platforms\u2019 (PLP).The shrinking of spaces of learning however, evokes images of isolated individuals working at their own speed and according to their abilities but doing so at an increasing distance from their peers. Simultaneously a profile of each individual is accumulated over a number of years, including everything from test scores to what is read and watched.<\/span><\/p>

Personal Educator is a work about play<\/i>, developing over three performances in collaboration with its audience\/participants and inviting a collective response to its content through engagement and feedback.\u00a0<\/span>
The first performance comprises of five acts placing the audience in respective passive\/active roles, presenting a history and a potential future perspective of the body and the social, political and economical frameworks through which it functions.<\/span>
The second and third performances will incorporate the interaction and feedback from the audience respectively and will therefore be directly informed by them.<\/span><\/p>

The space at Parkhaus will include play panels that can be assembled together in different ways to make seats or props or create platforms as determined by the audience\/participants.<\/span>
The play panels have been developed in collaboration with Richard Dattner, who originally designed them in the 1960s for the Adventure Playground in Central Park inNew York. Spielpl\u00e4tze sind stark aufgeladene und lebendige soziale R\u00e4ume. Diese R\u00e4ume sind voller M\u00f6glichkeiten zur Besch\u00e4ftigung und Interaktion und spiegeln eindringlich wieder, wie eine Gemeinschaft an das Lernen herangeht.<\/span>
Die Mehrheit der Spielpl\u00e4tze sind jedoch abgez\u00e4unt und formal vordefiniert. Sie bestehen aus einer althergebrachten Zusammenstellung von Strukturen. Die Materialien und ihre Formen sind statisch und legen die M\u00f6glichkeiten der Interaktion fest. Leichte Instandhaltbarkeit, Langlebigkeit und Strapazierf\u00e4higkeit sind die hervorstechenden Eigenschaften der meisten Spielpl\u00e4tze und Kennzeichen einer Industrialisierung des Spielaktes. Sie definieren wann er beginnt und wann er endet. Spielen wird als Aktivit\u00e4t f\u00fcr Kinder betrachtet. Sobald Erwachsene spielen, verlangt der wettstreitende Charakter dieser Aktivit\u00e4t nach quantitativ messbaren und vergleichbaren Ergebnissen.<\/span>
Die Nutzer von Spielpl\u00e4tzen kommen immer seltener zur\u00fcck, sobald sie alt genug sind um zur Schule zu gehen. In dieser Umgebung ist eine neue Reihe von Rahmenbedingungen gesetzt, welche den Lernprozess beeinflussen.<\/span>
Historisch haben Schulen seit jeher ihren geistigen und baulichen Charakter durch jene Autorit\u00e4ten erhalten, die sie legitimierten: fr\u00fcher durch die Kirche, sp\u00e4ter durch den Staat.<\/span>
Es ist gut m\u00f6glich, dass die Schulen von morgen digitale Instanzen sein werden, welche den tonangebenden Big Tech Companies \u00e4hneln, die bereits Systeme unter dem Namen \u201aPersonalized learning Platforms\u2018 (PLP) kreieren. Das Schwinden von R\u00e4umen des Lernens ruft Bilder isolierter Individuen hervor, welche zwar in ihrer eigenen Geschwindigkeit arbeiten, jedoch in einer wachsenden Distanz zu ihresgleichen. Das experimentelle Lehrst\u00fcck Personal Educator<\/i> handelt vom Spiel. Es entwickelt sich \u00fcber drei Auff\u00fchrungen im Zusammenspiel mit seinen Besuchern\/Teilnehmern und l\u00e4d zur gemeinschaftlichen Reaktion auf seinen Inhalt durch Teilnahme und Feedback ein.<\/span>
Die erste Auff\u00fchrung besteht aus f\u00fcnf Akten in denen das Publikum jeweils in aktive und passive Rollen versetzt wird. Sie stellt sowohl die Geschichte, als auch eine in der Zukunft m\u00f6gliche Betrachtungsweise des K\u00f6rpers vor - ebenso wie das soziale, politische und \u00f6konomische Gef\u00fcge, das auf ihn einwirkt. Die zweite und dritte Auff\u00fchrung werden die Interaktionen und das Feedback des Publikums mit einbeziehen und somit unmittelbar von ihm mitgepr\u00e4gt.<\/span><\/p>
