Walking through the streets around the main train station in D\u00fcsseldorf, the post World War II architecture imposes a sense of disorientation upon its visitor. Unlike the centre of the city where exhibitions of glossy vitrines and overcrowded boutiques display brands, identities and images, the neighbourhoods clustered around the station are blatantly about something other than the maintenance of appearances. Behind the bland exteriors that have nothing to say to you as you pass by are homes, offices, embassies, brothels, mosques, playgrounds, and small businesses whose character is kept at a distance.<\/span><\/p>

This audio tour takes the visitor on a walk to seven different locations in the neighbourhoods around the main station where, upon arrival, personal mobile devices can be used to listen to site specific conversations with people living or working around the corresponding location. Small business owner, homeless, Moroccan, German, Social worker or manager, the identities of these individuals merge through a re-recording of their stories using a single voice.<\/span>

L\u00e4uft man durch die Stra\u00dfen in der N\u00e4he des D\u00fcsseldorfer Hauptbahnhofs, l\u00f6st die dortige Nachkriegsarchitektur unweigerlich ein Gef\u00fchl der Orientierungslosigkeit aus. Anders als im Stadtzentrum, wo in gl\u00e4nzenden Vitrinen und \u00fcberf\u00fcllten Boutiquen Marken, Identit\u00e4ten und Bilder ausgestellt werden, dreht sich in dem an den Bahnhof grenzenden Stadtviertel um etwas anderes als die Pflege von \u00c4u\u00dferlichkeiten. Hinter dem unscheinbaren \u00c4u\u00dferen liegen Wohnungen, B\u00fcros, Botschaften, Bordelle, Moscheen, Spielpl\u00e4tze und kleine L\u00e4den, deren Charakter sich einem zun\u00e4chst entzieht.<\/span><\/p>

Die Audiof\u00fchrung nimmt den Besucher mit auf einen Spaziergang zu sieben verschiedenen, in Bahnhofsn\u00e4he gelegenen Orten. Nach ihrer Ankunft k\u00f6nnen die Besucher auf ihrem Mobilger\u00e4t ortsspezifische Gespr\u00e4che mit Menschen anh\u00f6ren, die im umkreis des jeweiligen Ortes leben oder arbeiten. Ladenbesitzer, Obdachloser, Marokkaner, Deutscher, Sozialarbeiter oder Manager \u2013 die Identit\u00e4ten dieser Personen verschmelzen in der mit einer einzigen Stimme ausgef\u00fchrten Neuvertonung ihrer Geschichten.<\/span>
